Dr. Carmen Schnurer received her medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre Y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic. She completed her Pediatric Residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center and Weill Cornell University in Bronx, NY.

Previously she served as an Emergency Physician and a professor of physiological sciences and biology and community medicine in Santiago, DR. Dr. Schnurer had multiple publications in research from Columbia University where she worked for three years. In addition, she worked as a psychotherapist in Pennsylvania before getting her medical degree. Most recently, she has worked as a pediatrician at Wee Care Pediatrics in Layton, UT and then as the owner of Blackstar Pediatrics, C. Marila Taveras MD in Tooele, UT.

She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is fluent in English and Spanish.

When asked about choosing to join the team at LRH Schnurer said “I chose LRH because they are a very patient centered organization, which is what I have been doing as a private pediatric practitioner for the last 9 years.” She added, “I was also impressed with the hospitality of the physicians and ancillary staff and I love the family-oriented community of Fergus Falls.”

Dr. Schnurer said her areas of professional interest include every area of pediatrics, but she is particularly passionate about mental health and developmental disorders.

Her personal interests include reading, spending time with family, outdoor activities and cooking.
